  • Undermount

    Undermount

This sink mounting style is installed below the countertop surface and is popular due to its glamorous appeal and functionality. The edge of the countertop material is exposed around the cut sink opening and the sink is clamped to the material from below. Silicone-based sealants are usually used to assure a waterproof joint between the sink and the countertop material. The advantage of an undermount sink is that is gives a sleek, contemporary look because there is no rim showing. Be aware if the hole is not cut properly, there can be complications at installation.

  • Overmount

    Overmount

Just like topmount sinks, overmount is a commonly used mounting style for many bathrooms. The sink hole is roughly cut and the overmount sink is dropped-in to create a lip or edge on the countertop. Overmounting allows for easy replacement in the future as it leaves minimal damage to the countertop.

  • Vessel

    Vessel

A free-standing sink, generally finished and decorated on all sides, that sits directly on the surface of the countertop. These sinks have become increasingly popular with bathroom designers because of the large range of materials, styles and finishes. Special faucets are available for vessel sinks as they sit higher and require a taller spout height.
