Customer Highlight: Garrison Groustra
July 13, 2018

For this inspirational Customer Highlight, we’d like to introduce you to Garrison Groustra. Garrison is a Minnesotan who has a passion for photography and a keen eye for design. Since moving into a new home with his wife, Corin, Garrison shares their renovation and homemaking journey on his Instagram account, gracious_living_ .

MR Direct is proud that our 405 apron sink and 766 faucet (which the Groustra’s affectionately call the “Lunch Lady Faucet”) are a part of their home. Here are a few questions we asked to learn more about how they achieved the kitchen of their dreams and showcase their unique style.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, including any information you’d like to share about your family, your DIY hobbies, or your home

“I work for a home builder where, I've recently had the ability to design the new home that I live with my wife and two kittens. We have enjoyed hand selecting all the features of our home including our apron sink and lunch lady faucet from MR Direct.”

Tell us about your kitchen renovation. How did you begin? What were the planning stages like? How did you move forward to reach the point you’re at today?

“Working in the design department with a home builder, I was able to fully design all our new home. Everything from floor plan, elevation, interior selections, and furniture. Going into this process we knew we wanted a minimalist modern feel, but to still have warmth to our home. We are so blessed and thankful to have an amazing place to live that we love.”

What has been the most rewarding part of renovating your home/kitchen? The most challenging?

“Designing our kitchen was so much fun. We told ourselves that we wanted to try and be ‘different from the norm’ in our selections. We went with a dark bold island color, apron sink, lunch lady faucet, stacked backsplash tile, and a metal hood. The most challenging part for us was waiting to see all the pieces come together.”

What are three words to describe your style?

“Clean, Minimal, Welcoming.”

Do you have a motto or inspiring quote you live by?

“Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

If you could give one piece of advice to someone who wants to start a complete home or kitchen renovation, it would be:

“Dare to be different than the norm.”
