Design Tips to Create Your Dream Pool House Bathroom
June 19, 2020

Pool house bathrooms are different from the bathrooms in your home. They are subject to a lot more moisture and can also get neglected for months out of the year.

But, that doesn’t mean you can’t have a beautiful pool house bathroom that withstands the elements and the test of time. All you need are these design tips from our experts.

Install Indoor Showers

You can greatly reduce the amount of moisture that gets tracked through your pool house by installing a walk-in shower with access from outdoors. Guests can shower pre and post-dip without having to enter the house.

The simplicity of just walking right into the shower is both practical and modern. Also, water tracked into the bathroom isn’t a problem if you have a floor drain installed (more on that in a minute).

Create Plenty of Space and Storage

Make your pool house bathroom even more functional by adding storage, furniture and space for a changing area for guests.

To start, add a few benches and extra hooks on the walls. If you have the space, consider getting some wooden lockers. They look fantastic and give your guests a convenient place to keep their belongings.

Choose Your Sink Wisely

Choose Your Sink Wisely

If you plan for your sink to be used for things like rinsing swimsuits, goggles, and pool accessories, opt for a spacious and durable sink. A deep undermount porcelain or stainless steel bathroom sink would be the best option since they are both stain and scratch resistant, and can withstand high traffic. Plus, they’re easy to clean!

If you want a spa-like, elegant bathroom, but still functional for its use, a gorgeous granite vessel sink is your best choice. Granite is a durable material that is highly resistant to chipping, staining, and scratching.

Install a Floor Drain

Install a Floor Drain

This is a design necessity in pool house bathrooms. Install tile flooring from wall to wall and add floor drains (not just in the shower). This will ensure that your bathroom is protected from water and moisture damage. It will also make maintenance a breeze.

In the cooler months, you’ll be able to give your bathroom a quick clean, and it won’t get stuffy and moldy like a normal bathroom would. Just make sure to add antifreeze to the pipes if temperatures go below freezing.

Designing the perfect pool house can be a lot of fun. Follow our expert tips and your pool house bathroom is sure to be stylish and accommodating.
