Are you a fan of Chip and Joanna Gaines’ HGTV show Fixer Upper? We sure are! And we’re thrilled to share that, during a recent episode, MR Direct provided a product that was used in Chip and Jojo’s renovation in the episode, “Touchdown for a Family in Need.” For this project, Chip and Joanna partnered with Tim Tebow and together, this dream team provided an emotional home makeover we’re proud to be a part of.
The episode features the Copp family of four. Jody and Melissa are the proud parents of Calan (9) and Lawson (5). Both boys have a life-threatening genetic condition that compromises their ability to stand and walk independently, and have been wheelchair-bound since they were young. Prior to the Fixer Upper project, the family was living in a modest apartment with little-to-no wheelchair accessibility or accomodations. Thanks to the incredible generosity and of the Tim Tebow Foundation and Magnolia Homes, all that has changed.
Now the new Copp family home is 100% ADA-compliant, and 100% wheelchair accessible. The hallways and walk spaces were widened, and a wheelchair ramp now leads to the home’s front door. In the kitchen, the microwave was installed in a lower cabinet that the boys can reach, and the dinner table is custom-built to accommodate the height of their wheelchairs.
The kitchen received all-new appliances, and a wheelchair-accessible MR Direct ADA2318 stainless steel sink was installed in the kitchen. Now Calan and Lawson can effortlessly wash their hands and help with dinner prep and cleanup.
Ken Wegrzyn, Vice-President/General Manager of MR Direct, said, "We could not have been more excited when it was learned that we played a part in making the home of the Copp family just a bit more comfortable. It's stories like theirs that make this business personally rewarding for all of our employees."
We are honored and grateful for the opportunity to provide an ADA-approved sink for two inspiring little boys.
