The Benefits of Bamboo
Both of the new bamboo kitchen sinks are apron-front models. To make the basin, the outer portion of the bamboo stalk is removed and cut into long strips. The strips are then layered to form the shape of the sink. Then, they’re sanded and laminated to make sure they’re perfectly smooth and beautiful. Bamboo is also naturally waterproof, so it’s an ideal material for a busy kitchen.
An added bonus is the undeniable strength of a bamboo sink. When it comes to durability, bamboo is harder than Red Oak and Maple wood. And it also has greater compression strength than steel, without compromising on beauty.
Cleaning and Accessories
For everyday cleaning, we recommend scrubbing your bamboo sink with mild soap and water. For a deeper clean, you can also scrub with a mixture of 1-ounce white vinegar to 1-quart of water.
Aside from routine cleaning, MR Direct offers various accessories that will help keep your bamboo kitchen sink looking beautiful for years to come. Due to the organic nature of the material, we include one stainless steel grid with every bamboo kitchen sink. They add an extra layer of protection and prevent utensils or pot and pans from damaging the bamboo’s finish.

One thing to keep in mind is that apron sink models require a custom cabinet, so we recommend working with a professional to make sure your cabinetry perfectly fits your apron sink. They are also thicker than our stainless steel or TruGranite sinks, so your MR Direct drain will come with an extension rod that’s able to reach the underside of the drain.
