Look who's dropping in. It's those TruGranite sinks from MR Direct that you have always admired as undermounts - now available as topmounts. Maybe you dismissed a TruGranite sink simply because you preferred or needed a topmount style in your kitchen. Well, MR Direct is happy to announce that it is now offering a drop-in version of several of its undermount models; and is also adding a brand new model in both formats as well.

Until the recent trend toward undermounting, the conventional means of installing a kitchen sink had been from above the counter. Today, this drop-in, or topmount, method is seeing a bit of a resurgence. A topmount installation is much simpler than one under the counter. It's as easy as cutting the countertop hole to fit, applying some glue, and dropping in the sink. Most kitchens with laminate countertops use a topmount sink to cover the exposed core of the counter material along the cutout. Even some of us with stone counters, prefer a topmount to prevent any chipping around the opening.

Topmount TruGranites from MR Direct are created with the same quality blend of quartzite and acrylic found in their undermounts. This formulation results in a very durable material that is heat, scratch, and stain-resistant. The new topmount TruGranites are available in four of the existing undermount formats: two equal-sized bowls; two unequal-sized bowls; a D-shape bowl, and an extra-wide single bowl.

Additionally, there is a new model formatted in an equal-bowl design; but with a low divide between them. The 812 and T812 are perfect for those who frequently use large cookware like cookie sheets, casserole pans, and long handled pots. The low separation between the bowls allows room for these utensils to be stacked, soaked, and washed with greater ease than in a fully divided sink. The back wall of each basin in this model is slightly bowed, providing just a little-bit-extra sink space, along with a touch of contemporary flair.

All of the topmount TruGranites have offset drains so that food scraps are directed away from the main work area inside the sink. This also permits the plumbing to be installed closer to the wall, providing more storage space below the sink. There's a significant, 1 ½" rim on three sides to support the sink, and an even wider edge along the back. Pre-scored holes are discreetly marked on the underside of the rear ledge, making it easy to properly install any of the variety of faucets and accessories available. For a finishing touch, you can even purchase strainers and flanges that perfectly match any of the six color choices. If you've been waiting for topmount TruGranites, they're here, and they're spectacular.
