Blooming Baked Apples

Blooming Baked Apples

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 4 apples
  • 8 caramel chews (cubes)
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Caramel sauce (can make with additional caramel chews)

Directions:

Cut off the top of each apple and remove the core with a knife or melon baller nearly to the base of the fruit. Use a pairing knife to cut two rings into the apple, creating onion-like layers. Next, turn the apple upside-down and make vertical cuts around it. The apple should be cut into petals, but each piece should remain connected to the base of the core.

Whisk the butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, and white sugar into a bowl to create a glaze.

Add two caramel chews to the core of each apple and carefully brush the petals with the glaze.

Bake at 190C/375F for about 30 minutes or until the apples are tender.

Serve hot topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel sauce.

Whether you’re building new memories or hoping to relive the nostalgia of home, these recipes will bring warmth and coziness to your table. And, they are absolutely perfect for getting into the feeling of fall without rushing into the decadence of the holiday season. Enjoy!
