Greenery
As always, adding some life with plants and flowers opens and brightens up your living space. Any variety of ornamental orchids, peace lilies, or snake plants are beautiful and low maintenance house plant options. If you want to simply freshen up plants that you already have, look into getting some new pots for them. Fun trendy pot looks for this year are concrete, white, and gold geometrically shaped pots. If you are unsure about keeping a houseplant alive, succulents or even faux plants are a great option too.

Bright Pops of Color
Another way to add freshness to a space is with color. This year, the trend of muted colors will continue. Expect to see this trend being used in some bolder colors like burnt umber, mustard yellow, and emerald green. Throw pillows are an easy way to use new accent colors in your pre-existing design. Don’t be afraid of using patterns like stripes or florals to break up solid blocks of colors.

Natural Materials
Adding in natural materials such as raw wooden bowls, woven baskets, or wool fringed blankets and rugs will go a long way in warming up a room. For a more industrial look, consider mixing metals like copper, brass, silver, and of course, rose gold. An overly stylized metal scheme might come off as cold and boring, so have fun experimenting.

Lots of Texture
Another great way of adding warmth is by layering textures. Change out your winter throw and accent pillows with materials like crushed velvet or blended hemp. Simple woven wall tapestries are making a comeback, as are macrame plant holders, and tassel garlands. 2019 is not a year to back down from being bold with your choices, so go wild and have fun with your accessories.

Vintage Glamour
We are seeing a resurgence of interest in many vintage decor trends, but with no specific decade in mind. A bohemian blend of the clashing colors of the 70’s is acceptable again. 80’s patterns such as terrazzo are very in as well. Art deco lighting and furniture are having a hayday. However, mid-century table legs and chairs are still very much in fashion, due to their ability to keep small spaces looking open and inviting with sleek and minimal lines.
