Have you noticed? The conventional sink mold has been broken. Browse the internet or your local stores, and you’ll discover a wide variety of kitchen sink choices. New composite materials offer fresh looks and special benefits. Sizes stretch to fill big needs and shrink to fit small spaces. The use of classic metals and renewable natural resources are being rethought into new basin forms. While all these options are viable and growing in popularity, guess what? It’s the conventional stainless steel kitchen sink, of moderate size, which has continued to suit the taste of most consumers.
This fact is borne out by the popularity of a certain set of sinks manufactured by MR Direct known as the Builder Series. All four models identified as 3218 in this collection have the same overall size of 32 1/4" x 18" but are offered up in various configurations. The model A has two equal-sized bowls, the model B has two unequal-sized bowls which can be offset to the left or right, and the model C is a single basin. The dimensions of this sink are average for its class, and its construction is of the predominant material used in the manufacture of kitchen sinks today -- stainless steel.
Maybe you’re unaware of the benefits of stainless? Well, the best reason to consider it is durability. Drop a dish in it, no chipping; spill a glass of red wine in it, no staining; leave food scraps overnight in it, no lingering odors when removed. It’s a tough material.
The 3218s are constructed of 304-grade stainless steel, with a solid, industry-standard 18-gauge thickness. This is the best class of stainless steel available in the residential sink industry. Additionally, sound-dampening pads are applied under the sink to diminish the noise of running water, and an undercoating is sprayed over the entire exterior to prevent condensation. As a bonus, the coating reduces sound even further. With all these qualities, it’s easy to see that any of the 3218 models will stand up to a reasonable amount of abuse.
Need more facts? The 3218 is available in four formats in order to meet any need. For instance, if you are frequently doing dishes by hand, the equal-sized, nine-inch deep bowls of the 3218A provide plenty of room to divide the wash and rinse waters. If a place for cleaning and chopping meal ingredients is a big part of the sink’s purpose, the offset 3218B provides a smaller, shallower food prep sink on either the left or right side of a larger sink. When maximum space is required to accommodate large items, such as oversized pots and cookware, the wide, single-bowl 3218C is the obvious choice.
For consumers, the bonus to all these premium features, is that if your needs change, a new format of the 3218 can be very easily swapped out for the old. Even contractors see the value of stocking up on all the 3218 styles, so they can pre-cut countertops and still offer customers a real choice of sinks.
The 3218s are the contemporary standard by which other sinks are measured. It’s worth the trip to check out these Builder Series sinks from MR Direct.
